CMES Outreach Coordinator Wins Award from the History Channel

Dr. Lisa Adeli, CMES Outreach Coordinator and former Buena High School World History teacher, was honored on June 18th during a National History Day Event in Maryland. She recieved the History Channel Outsanding History Educator Award for her ecxeptional contribution to education. The award was a plaque and a $5,000 cash prize. Only one educator annually is honored with this award at National History Day. During the 2008-2009 school year, Adeli taught a class on the Middle East at Cholla High School. Some of the students from her class competed at the state level in the National History Day competition. One of her students won the state competition and another placed as an alternate. Their performance qualified them for the national competition held at the University of Maryland in June. When asked about the award, Adeli said, "I was completely shocked. I had no idea I had been selected. This award really represents Buena and Cholla High Schools and the University of Arizona."
