The outreach lending library is open to all to borrow or use our books, CDs, DVDs, VHS films, country themed Culture Kits, maps, reference materials, and curricula materials on the Middle East and Islam.
Borrowing Policies
- K-12 educators, college instructors and professors, and the general public are eligible to check out materials from the CMES Resource Center. Please fill out the Library Patron Application Form and submit it to Thomas Kenney (tkenney0511@arizona.edu).
- Library patrons are assigned a borrower ID, which is used to track what you have checked out and assess late fees
- Stop by the CMES office (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday-Friday) to check out materials. Arizona residents that live outside Tucson may be eligible for mail
- Culture kits and audio recordings are checked out for a month at a time, books for 2 weeks, and videos for a week at a time. For time extensions, please contact Julie Ellison Speight (jellison@arizona.edu).
Library Resources
CMES also offers Lesson Plans and Culture Kits listed by country.
The catalog does not show whether an item is checked out. Please call (520-621-5450) or write (sbs-cmes@arizona.edu) to place an item on hold or to check on availability before you come to the library. Reservations can be made for the library space (where the books are stored) which will close off access.
