MENA Graduate Organization invites you the 16th annual South West Graduate Conference with a keynote address given by Professor Asef Bayat of Global and Transnational Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The event will be on Friday April 8th, 5:30 in the Henry Koffler Building, room 218. Professor Asef Bayat is the author of several books in sociology, Islam and modern world including: Making Islam Democratic: Social Movements and the Post-Islamist Turn (Stanford University Press, 2007); Being Young and Muslim: Cultural Politics in the Global South and North (with Linda Herrera) (Oxford University Press, 2010); Life as Politics: How Ordinary People Change the Middle East (Stanford University Press, 2013. 2nd edition); and Post-Islamism: The Changing Faces of Political Islam (Oxford University Press, 2013).
