Marshall 490

as part of the Fall 2011 MENAS Colloquium Series

David N. Gibbs will analyze the 2011 NATO intervention in the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. He will argue that the doctrines of humanitarian intervention and responsibility to protect served largely as a pretext for intervention, rather than a genuine motive; and that the intervention stemmed from the geo-strategic interests of the Western powers.David Gibbs is a Professor of History and Government in the Department of History at the University of Arizona.
