SUPPORT CMES
Donations
The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) invites and welcomes
donations in support of CMES' many activities. We are enormously grateful for donors' generosity,
which supports academic study of the Middle East and outreach activities that foster greater public
understanding of Middle Eastern cultures, histories, and societies.
Individual and corporate donors may choose to make general
contributions in support of CMES activities, donate in support of existing
funds, or designate a particular realm of CMES' work to support. For example, one donor has
created a bequest to support activities that enhance understanding of Middle
Eastern women's lives; a corporation has contributed in support of outreach
activities. One can endow a named
lectureship or professorship in an area of particular interest in Middle East
studies, support an annual cultural event, or create a student fellowship.
Existing CMES funds are:
Undergraduate Middle East Language Scholarships (link
to guidelines)
These scholarships are awarded to undergraduate
students of Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Turkish, many of whom study abroad
during the course of their
undergraduate careers.
Checks in support of the
Undergraduate Middle East Language Scholarship fund should be made payable to
UA Foundation; please note `CMES scholarship' on the check's memo line.
Student Travel Grants (link to guidelines)
Travel grants are awarded to
students who make presentations at national scholarly conferences and to
students who attend such conferences for their professional development.
Checks in support of Student Travel
Grants should be made payable to Center for Middle Eastern Studies; please note
`Student Travel Grants' on the check's memo line.
Contributions in general support of CMES should be
made payable to Center for Middle Eastern Studies, with `general support' noted
on the check's memo line.
Donations to CMES are tax deductible. Please send contribution

funds for Undergraduate Middle East Language Scholarships by organizing
activities such as henna booths held on the UA mall and at city events. If you are interested in
volunteering your time at one of these functions, please contact Lisa Adeli ,
CMES Outreach Coordinator (520-621-7904).
CMES also sells items, such as mugs and t-shirts, with the
Center logo and `University of Arizona' written in Middle Eastern scripts. For more information on these items,
please contact Christian Sinclair (520-621-8079).
