SCHOLAR ACCESS GRANTS
At the current time, CMES does not have any of these grants available.
Purpose: To
increase the accessibility of the Middle Eastern Studies Collection at the
University of Arizona library to faculty at post-secondary institutions in
Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas.
Amount of Award:
Up to $500.
Eligibility:
Any current faculty member teaching or conducting research on the Middle East
at a two-year, four-year, or technical college in Arizona, New Mexico, or
western Texas.
Deadline: There
is no set deadline. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, as funds are
available.
The University of Arizona (UA)
Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) invites applications for grant awards
to support research at the UA library for projects that have a Middle Eastern
focus. The competition aims primarily to increase the accessibility of
the UA's extensiveMiddle East Collection, which includes holdings of over
65,250 volumes, 300 current periodicals, and 250 videos and films. The
program also supports the utilization of other UA facilities and departmental
resources in research topics on the Middle East. Grantees are invited to
participate in CMES programs and to visit with UA faculty during their campus
visits.
Awards of up to $500
will provide support for travel to the UA campus, parking, lodging, per diem,
photocopying, fees associated with the use of campus facilities, and other
miscellaneous expenses.
Priority will be given
to applicants who would like to expand their current work on the Middle East or
who would like to add a Middle Eastern component to their teaching and/or
research programs. Applicants who wish to develop a community outreach
aspect to their research will also be considered. Awardees will be
reimbursed promptly for their expenses upon submission of original receipts.

description (1-2 pages): describe the nature of the project, the project's benefits
(research, teaching, and/or outreach), and the way in which time will be used on
the UA campus
4. Proposed budget
5. Proposed dates/duration of research visit
